Your Starlink kit arrived — congratulations! Here is how to go from unboxing to online as quickly as possible.
Before you even open the box, download the Starlink app on your phone (available on both iOS and Android). The app helps you find the best location for your dish by scanning for obstructions.
Your Starlink dish needs a clear view of the sky. Use the app's obstruction checker — point your phone camera at the sky and it will show you if there are trees, buildings, or other obstacles blocking the satellite signal. The fewer obstructions, the better your speed and reliability.
Unbox the kit and unfold the kickstand (or mount to a pole if using the actuated model). Place it in your chosen location. Connect the power cable — it plugs in with one connector, so there is nothing to get wrong.
Plug in the power supply and wait about 5 minutes. The dish will automatically tilt and rotate to find the best satellite signal. You will see a solid white light on the router when it is connected.
Look for the "Starlink" Wi-Fi network on your phone, laptop, or tablet. Connect to it — the default password is on the bottom of the router. Open the Starlink app to customize your network name and password.
