How to change your Wi-Fi password

Forgot your password? Or worried about who's connected? You can change your Starlink Wi-Fi password directly from the DishNet app in under a minute.

About 2 min to complete
3 steps
Works on Android & iOS
1

Tap "Wi-Fi password" on your home screen

From the home screen, look for the Quick actions list. Tap the row that says Wi-Fi password. It's usually the first one.

Don't see it? The app needs to know which Starlink router belongs to you. If our team set up your account properly, the router is already linked. If it isn't, the app will say "No routers found" — message support and we'll fix it.

Type your new password (twice)

You'll land on the Wi-Fi Settings screen. The top shows your current network name — that's the Wi-Fi name your devices see.

Type your new password in the New password box. It must be 8-32 characters. Then type it again in Confirm new password.

Tap the 👁 icon to peek at what you typed if you're not sure.

When both passwords match, tap Change password.

Want to also change your Wi-Fi name? Tap the small Advanced link. A field appears where you can rename your network. Be warned — if you change the name, every device has to reconnect (not just enter the new password).

Wait 30 seconds — you're done

The app sends the new password to your Starlink router. This takes up to 30 seconds. When it's done, you'll see a green confirmation message.

Your phone, laptop, TV, and other devices will disconnect automatically. To reconnect them:

1. Open the Wi-Fi settings on each device
2. Find your DishNet network
3. Tap Forget or Disconnect
4. Connect again with the new password

Doing this regularly is a good idea. If too many neighbours know your old password, change it. Anyone who's connected without your permission gets cut off the second the password changes.
