How to grant time access to a customer

Run a café, lodge, or shop? Grant a customer Wi-Fi for a set amount of time. When the timer runs out, they're auto-disconnected. Charge whatever you want.

About 3 min to complete
4 steps
Works on Android & iOS
1

Open Hotspot Mode and tap "Connected"

Make sure Hotspot Mode is on (see the previous tutorial if it's not).

On the Hotspot dashboard, you'll see a Connected count showing how many devices are on your Wi-Fi right now. Tap it.

How customers join in the first place: they connect to your Wi-Fi with the password (you can give it to them, write it on a board, or use the Share Wi-Fi QR code). Once they're on, you'll see them in the connected list.

Find the customer's device and tap the clock icon

Every device on your Wi-Fi shows up here. The list shows the device name, the IP address, and a small clock icon on the right.

Find the customer who just paid you. Their phone usually shows up as something like Samsung-A15, Tecno-Spark-9, iPhone, etc.

Tap the clock icon on their row.

Multiple devices look the same? Look at the IP address. Each device has a unique one ending in a different number (.42, .55, .48). Ask the customer "what's your phone called" if you need to be sure.

Pick how long, optionally log the cash

A sheet pops up. Pick how much time the customer paid for:

30 min · 1 hour · 4 hours · 24 hours

Or type a custom number of minutes (1 to 10,080 — that's 7 days). Tap Go for custom.

Cash collected (optional): if the customer paid you in cash, type the amount in SSP and a quick note like "Table 4" or "Walk-in". This logs the sale. You can leave both blank if you're tracking money another way.

Suggested pricing: 500 SSP per hour is what most cafés charge. Adjust to your market.

Grant time access

Give Samsung-A15 internet for a set time. After the timer expires the device will be auto-paused.

The timer ticks down — auto-cut at zero

Once you tap the time chip, the customer is granted internet. Their device row now shows a green countdown badge (59:47) and the clock icon turns green.

You don't need to do anything else. When the timer hits zero, the app auto-pauses the device. The customer's phone will say "no internet" and they'll need to come back to you (and pay again) for more time.

If they pay for more time before the timer ends, just tap the clock icon again on their row to extend the grant.

If you want to cut them off early, long-press the green clock icon to revoke.

What's important to know: this works on the device's MAC address. A tech-savvy customer could "spoof" their MAC address and get free Wi-Fi after their time runs out. For real cybercafés that need anti-spoofing, vouchers, and speed caps, ask us about fiber + MikroTik instead.
