How to check if Starlink is online

Internet down or sluggish? Before calling support, check your dish status. The app talks directly to your Starlink and tells you whether it's reachable, with one-tap refresh.

About 2 min to complete

Works on Android & iOS

Tap Sites and open your site

From the bottom tabs, tap Sites. You'll see every Starlink site on your account.

Tap the site you want to check. The site detail page is where dish status lives.

Why does the app know if your dish is online? Each Starlink dish reports its status to Starlink's cloud. The app asks Starlink whether your dish was reachable in the last few minutes. If yes, you're online. If no, something is wrong.

Read the Dish Status card

Below the usage card you'll find Dish Status. It has three possible states:

🟢 Online — the dish is reachable and serving data. Internet should be working.
🔴 Offline — the dish is not responding. Power, cable, or sky-view issue.
⚪ Unavailable — we couldn't check right now (auth or rate-limit issue, not your fault).

The timestamp "2m ago" tells you how recent the check was. If it's old, tap Refresh.

The status is cached. By default the app uses a status check from the last few minutes to keep things fast. If you want a real-time answer, hit Refresh — that talks to your dish right now.

If it says Offline — here's what to check

Red dot = your dish isn't responding. Three things to check, in this order:

1. Power. Is the dish powered on? Is the router blinking? Is mains power working at all (Juba load-shedding)?
2. Cable. Is the cable from the dish to the router still firmly plugged in? Has anyone moved or pulled it?
3. Sky view. Has anything new blocked the dish's view of the sky? Trees grow, things get put on roofs, dust storms accumulate.

If all three look fine and it's still offline after 5-10 minutes, tap Contact support directly from this card. Our team can see the same status and run more checks.

Heavy rain or thunderstorm? Starlink dishes can briefly drop offline during severe weather. Wait 15-30 minutes after the storm and check again before calling.

Your Starlink dish is not responding. Check that the dish has power, the cable is connected, and there's a clear view of the sky.

Tap Refresh for a real-time check

The Refresh button does a live status check — it asks Starlink right now, instead of using the cached value.

Tap it once. The button briefly disables, then updates with a fresh status and a new "just now" timestamp.

This is most useful when you've just plugged the dish back in, or just reset the router, and want to verify it's actually back online before walking away.

If Refresh shows Online but your internet is still slow: the problem isn't the dish — it's between you and the dish. Try the speed test next, or check the data usage screen to see if someone is hogging the network.

Just verified — your dish is online and serving data.
If your internet still feels slow: the dish is reachable from Starlink, but the connection between you and the dish (Wi-Fi, cables, range) might be the issue. Try the speed test next.
